Description |
COROMANDEL SCREEN, 4 panels.There are red-crowned cranes under the pine tree, both symbols which represent long life. The crane additionally symbolises the ascent to heaven after death and is a harbinger of good fortune. The Chinese characters on the right corner send wishes to the owner for a life as long as the pine tree's and the crane's. This screen was generally used as a decoration in the guest house.
