Beijing
formely called Peking in English, is the capital of the People’s Republic of China and one of the four municipalities of the PRC which as the status of a province in China’s administration system. Located in the north east of the country, Beijing Municipality borders Hebei Province to the north, west, south and for a small portion in the east. It borders Tianjin Municipality to the southeast.
The country’s second most populated city, after Shanghai, it is a major transportation hub and is recognised as the political, educational and cultural centre of China. Read more

Five Dynasties : 907 – 923
Social and economic growth kept the Tang dynasty together during the years of disunion, known also as the Five Dynasties period. Handicraft guilds were first founded and paper money was introduced during this time. Not only did five short-lived dynasties form during this period, but ten independent states were also formed, primarily in Southern China.
